Privacy Policy for NukoExif

Last updated: 14 Oct 2026

NukoExif ("the app") is a photo metadata (EXIF) viewer and remover for Android, developed by Nuko ("we", "our"). This page explains what data the app does — and does not — collect.

Short version

NukoExif itself does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Reading and removing a photo's location (GPS), date/time, camera details and other metadata happens entirely on your device — your photos and their metadata are never uploaded to any server. The app contains no analytics or tracking SDKs. The Free version, however, shows an ad banner served by Google AdMob, during which Google may use your advertising ID and similar data (see "Advertising" below). The Pro version shows no ads.

What the app does with your files

NukoExif reads photos only when you explicitly ask it to, through Android's built-in file picker (the Storage Access Framework). A selected photo is copied to the app's private temporary storage on your device, and the metadata is removed from that copy — your original photo is never modified. The processed copy is saved to your device's gallery (Pictures/NukoExif) or handed to the app you choose only when you tap "Save to gallery" or "Share". The app does not scan, index, or access any photos you have not directly chosen through those pickers, and it never uploads any photo or file anywhere.

About location data

The app does not request the device-location permission and never accesses your device's current location; it only requests the "access media location" permission (ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION) so Android lets it read the location already recorded inside photos you select. The location shown on screen is only the GPS metadata already recorded inside the photo you selected. Only if you tap "Open in Maps" are those coordinates handed to the map app on your device.

Permissions

NukoExif declares the following permissions, for the purposes below:

Data collection and analytics

We (NukoExif) do not collect:

Removal presets you save in the app (your choice of which categories to remove) are stored only in the app's private storage on your device and are never sent anywhere. Standard Android system logs generated during a crash stay on your device and are only visible to you (or to us if you voluntarily choose to send them to us, e.g. by email, when reporting a bug).

Advertising

The Free version shows a small ad banner at the bottom of the screen, served by Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, Google (and its advertising partners) may collect and use your advertising ID, IP address, device information and approximate usage information. This information is not sent to us and we cannot access it. In the EEA, UK and other applicable regions, a consent screen from Google's User Messaging Platform is shown at first launch, and you can change your choice at any time from "Ad privacy settings" in the menu. Upgrading to Pro removes ads. For details, see Google's advertising policies and Google's Privacy Policy.

Third-party services

The third-party services NukoExif integrates are Google's Play Billing Library (in-app purchases) and, for ads in the Free version, Google's Mobile Ads SDK and User Messaging Platform. It does not include any other analytics platform, ad network, or cloud storage service. For how Google Play handles information during a purchase, see Google's Privacy Policy.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the relevant age in your country), and NukoExif itself does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
